..... hoping and praying

So, we have a new president.... Barack Obama. I will say I wholeheartedly disagree with his ideas. I don't get how taxing the wealthy and giving it to the poor will help this Country. It's sounds great, but it's not fair to the people who have worked so hard to get where they are. I do believe that we should help the poor as Christ said. However, when the Government starts to control and force it, it will cause people to lose their strive to better themselves. I do feel that if the church what do their part to help the needy and a lot of them do, the Government wouldn't have to step in and control.

I also worry about the Socialized or Universal Health Care he's wanting to do. From what I've been hearing from people is that we do need to change something. I don't know what that is. All I know is SOMEBODY will have to pay for it.... there's nothing for free. Basically, we may not have to pay for health insurance, but it will have to be paid for somehow.... will it be the rich once again? I have a friend who's mom lived in Canada and didn't have to pay for insurance, that's wonderful, but when she got Kidney Stones.... she went on a waiting list and it didn't get taken care of for a whole year!!! Now that's not the kind of care I want for me or anyone else. It just sounds good on the surface. They also get taxed out of the wazoo, like I said, things aren't free. So everyone gets health care for free, but you will pay for it somewhere down the line. Plus, we won't get there quality care we want.

I'm just rambling on, as you can see I just don't want more Government control. I know everyone wants good for our country. We just see how to get there differently. I really studied on all the issues for the first time in my life. I actually liked Obama at first. I've always voted Republican, but wasn't thrilled with our choices this time. I thought Obama had great poise and strength as a potential leader. It sounded as if he wanted to do all these great things for people in need. Jeff said why don't you read about the things he's talking about so you will know. After I read and understood from a non bias site that one of my Liberal friends sent to me, I was astounded that anyone would support Obama's ideas. I've asked a few of Liberal friends many questions to try and understand why they supported him. I've listened to Liberal radio, I've watched TV that was much more left than Foxnews, just so I'm not so persuaded  by the "right winged" media. I've looked up bills that McCain and Obama have voted for, against and present. Trust me, I've done my homework. I urged as many people as I could..... I don't care who you vote for, JUST KNOW WHY!!

On a side note
It was neat seeing how far we've come. To see a black American become President elect was pretty awesome. Not so long ago, even in my time, it would have never been thought of.
I do hope and pray that President Elect Obama will do good for our Country. I want him to prove me wrong. I will pray for him as he  leads this Country. I will support him as my American President.

Shannon, I think it's great that you are passionate about your country, politics and all the hoopla over the past 18 months. Your right I don't agree with the policies Barack has stated and or anything he has voted for or against while he was a Senator. (143 days ) I think. I hope he does well. I am praying too.
